In order to explore color and compound space, only two oil colors are used in each painting. All hue becomes a byproduct of value, and the space becomes confused as nearby values bleed together. By using models, the paintings are kept from becoming entirely abstract, but by repeatedly scraping the canvas and limiting detail in the eyes, identity and connection are subverted, moving the focus to the compressed space and interwoven marks and forms.
